The working environment and everyday movement habits
Ergonomics and Movement Consultancy
Movement habits at home and at work are assessed, sound ergonomic approaches are planned, and reducing the risk of injury is supported.
Most of the load on the musculoskeletal system comes not from one faulty movement, but from habits repeated through the day and from staying in one position for hours.
Assessment
Your working environment, your everyday movement habits and the physical demands of your job are assessed together. Someone at a desk and someone lifting heavy loads have very different needs.
What does the consultancy cover?
- Setting up the workstation (screen height, seating, support surfaces)
- Teaching safe lifting and carrying technique
- Planning short movement breaks that fit into the working day
- Advice on sleeping and resting positions
The single most effective measure
No position is ideal when held for hours. Standing up and changing position at regular intervals is, on its own, the most effective measure there is. Much of the consultation is about fitting that into your routine in a way you can actually sustain.
